Petsies & The Sato Project

We believe every pet’s story deserves to be celebrated — especially the ones that start with rescue and hope. That’s why we’re proud to support The Sato Project, an incredible nonprofit dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and abused dogs from Puerto Rico.

Since 2011, The Sato Project has rescued over 8,000 dogs and provided thousands more with spay/neuter services and vaccinations to help end the overpopulation crisis. Their work doesn’t just save lives, it transforms them.

What is The Sato Project?

The Sato Project is a U.S. nonprofit organization working to change the fate of Puerto Rico’s forgotten dogs. Through rescue, rehabilitation, community education, and advocacy, they’re rewriting what it means to be a “sato” — a term for stray dogs on the island they have reclaimed as celebratory.

Join Us in Making a Difference

The Sato Project primarily works in the municipality of Yabucoa, on the southeastern coast of the island, which has been rated the poorest of all 78 Puerto Rican municipalities. The Petsies team supports their efforts through donations and by sending our CEO on incredible missions!
